Let's Chit-Chat and Catch Up
I hope all is well and that ya'll are staying safe and washing your hands. With everything going on in the world right now it is super important to listen to the CDC Guidelines and practice good hygiene and social distancing. I get it, I am not a stay-at-home type of gal either so it has really been hard to keep this social butterfly entertained and occupied at home but I hope this blog page can give you some ideas on what you can do while you're doing your part and social distancing (also, remember social distancing doesn't mean you can't go out and get some fresh air, hikes and walks are a great idea to getting in your daily exercise).
I have been very distant from my blog for a few months but I'd love to catch you up on what has been going on in my life. In August of 2019, I took a 9-hour trip with my puppy to San Marcos and moved into my new apartment with four of my best friends. Ollie has adjusted to living here nicely and has made plenty of friends along the way.
I turned TWENTY-ONE! All thanks to my amazing friends and family I was able to have a week filled birthday celebrations and made memories that will last a lifetime.
Saw Kacey Musgrave's, Mumford & Sons, Rosalia, and Lizzo with my girl gang at Austin City Limits.
Spent New Year's Eve in Austin, Texas bar hopping and partying it up in our hotel room, we counted down the new year surrounded by lots of love and excitement.
I started the semester off a member of CIM TEYA (@cimteya on instagram). CIM TEYA stands for Creation in Motion-Touring Ensemble for Young Audiences and we teach kids the importance of the arts while integrating their core subjects like math, reading, and science. I was able to perform at Opening Door Dance Theater, Blayton Museum in Austin, and the CIM TEYA matinee which really helped me understand what I was wanting to do once I graduated. Ooo also I made the Dean's list.
It has been an amazing past few months but there was also some tears. I had to say goodbye to my best friend, she moved to Galveston for nursing school and It was way harder than I thought it was going to be. I am really proud of you Kendall.
American College Dance Association got cancelled due to the virus. We worked really hard on the piece we were going to take to be adjudicated but we understand the circumstances and safety always comes first.
As for now, Texas State University has extended our spring break an extra week and then we will move to online course for the rest of the semester. For most, excitement is the first response to this news, for me it was really devastating and sad. I am a Dance Education major who walks into classes each day and is truly inspired by everyone who occupies the space, I will miss you all the most. To you amazing seniors, I am so sorry. I am so proud of the work you have done and I know you all are going to shine through this dark time. I can't wait to dance with my friends and colleagues again but until then we will always have each other.
I have decided to stay in San Marcos with my roommate Sarah and so far we have learned a few tips and tricks to keep us moving and busy and we can't wait to share them with you. It is important to keep your spirits high! We are all in this together!
