My Reverse Bucket List

Oh the places you'll go they said but more like the experiences you'll have. College is about making memories and friendships that will be a part of you for the rest of your life. You are able to really be yourself in a judgement free zone and express yourself (which is why I waited so long to start my blog). The fear of rejection and being unaccepted is gone because you surround yourself with positively and the people who really want you to succeed.

In high school, a bucket list was not my top priority and now that I have stepped foot in the young adult world I finally got the time to create a bucket list and embrace every moment, big or small, and that is something special. While creating my list, I decided why not reminisce on the ones I've had the opportunity to experience and hopefully inspire you to step outside of your comfort zone.

Let us start with the beginning of my young adult life...graduating high school. I graduated in 2017 from a high school in El Paso with my best friend Itzel. Being able to share a moment like that binds you for life and forever will she be family to me. At the time in my life I was so ready to get up and move on but I wish I would've spent a little more time living in the moment and taking in every last ounce of it.

TXST
I am the Class of 2021 here at Texas State University. I was ready to start my new life in San Marcos, Texas but intimidated to see what was in store. Moving from home was the scariest experience of my life but I am so grateful for my support system that guided me through it and has helped me become the person I am today. Going into my new endeavors at Texas State I adjusted it being my new home but El Paso will always be HOME. I am so glad I experienced a crappy dorm and all the rough times because it gave me so many great times that you all will all hopefully find with the struggles of being a student!
I decided long before getting to Texas State University that I wanted to be a Dance Major with a minor in Mass Communications and English and that is what I am currently doing.

BECOMING A BELLE
Becoming a Belle! This is where I made my forever friends and my family away from home. I have my amazing biggie and twin. This year, we added three incredible little's Jaylee, Madi, and Sammie to our familia and hopefully some more to come. Not only did I get my fam bam but I also made my best friends and you know who you are loves. Bobcat Belles is a support organization that promotes school spirit and growth for the Texas State Football Program so to share a love for football with my best friends is pretty cool.

DISNEYLAND
If you have not been to Disneyland on New Years you must try to make it out there. Not only did I get to experience the New Year's Eve Show in front of the famous castle but I was also able to spend it with Itzel. A two-week trip which involved shopping, movies, beaches, and memorable adventures I will cherish forever. Seriously, put this one at the top of your list.

AUSTIN CITY LIMITS
Austin City Limits, also known as ACL, was quite frankly one of the craziest and enjoyable music festival I have been to. I have experienced Neon Desert in El Paso multiple times but this was different. Having no worries and enjoying the people who surrounded you while being with your best friend, what more could I possibly ask for?

BIG/LIL REVEAL
Big/Little Reveal was one of my favorite moments. When you bond with your little's before they even know that you're their biggie is so blissful, they learn to love you for you and help each other climb that large mountain of being homesick or just to adjust to the idea of being an adult. I love you little bits!

PUMPKIN PATCH
I know this one is not something you usually see on a twenty-year old's bucket list but I finally went to a pumpkin patch with my best friends and really enjoyed all the festivities and laughter it brought with it. After searching Pinterest endlessly on the expectations of a local home grown pumpkin patch they were met.

SPURS NBA GAME
During my Disneyland trip I was fortunate enough to go to a Lakers Game with Itzel but this past semester I attended a Spurs Game for Bobcat Belles Date Party. I guess you can say they made me into a Spurs fan!

SPRING BREAK 2019: ORANGE BEACH, ALABAMA
Okay, this is the one I have been really excited about sharing. This Spring Break my gals and I had the chance to take a road trip through three states (Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama) to reach our final destination... the beach! We were able to spend a few days enjoying the sun, making so many new friends, and to explore! I have to share a few pictures for this one because the sunset is actually kind of unbelievable.

SEWELL RIVER
Taking on Sewell River in San Marcos! In case you don't know, Texas State University has an amazing river that runs through campus and is definitely a part of every single Bobcat. Bobcat Belles were able to film a section of our recruitment video at the river and during that process we had so much fun hanging out and enjoying each others company and the sun.

SIX FLAGS FIESTA TEXAS
I am not a roller coaster type of gal let me tell you but everything changed after the first ten minutes when my gal pals made me get on the first one in sight (and it was not a little one either). Scariest part of a bucket list is doing the things you do not really want to do but I am so glad I got on and faced my fears and hold my friends hands through it all.

CHOREOGRAPHERS SHOWCASE
Abbey invited three of us to perform in her piece at Choreographer's Showcase. Not only was it an experience that gave me the opportunity to showcase Abbey's choreography but also made me realize everything I loved about dance. I made more friends that share the same love as I and makes it special when you have that relationship with your ensemble before going on stage. This past week we went through tech, dress rehearsals, and performance weekend and it just helped me realize how much I have this need to perform and be on stage.

There are so many more memories I wish I could add to this post but we would be here forever if I did! This is just a small part of my life that I am so grateful to have. If you have an opportunity to take a risk, do it. You never know who you'll meet or what you'll learn.

There is so much I want to still do in the future and achieve! Here's a few:
I want to get my degree and start my adult life.
I want to fall in love for the first time.
I want to travel as much as I possibly can.
I want to experience dance with new opportunities.
We can definitely discuss this later.

Even though these long term goals will take some time to accomplish I will not rush through each moment but rather live in it as long as I can. Life is too short to think about what's next, just enjoy the stresses of being a college student because in a few years it will be the ones you wish you could bring back.
